Who or what are glops? |
The Story of Glops series |
Fictional, shape-shifting glops help the reader stay engaged by voicing the concerns and feelings that are invoked by true Bible stories. They elaborate on important historical facts and traditions.
Many have asked how the idea of the glops came about. Elayne’s older sister needed help with a college assignment. Elayne, 14 years old at the time, helped her sister by quickly writing a short story about a funny, inquisitive little creature. About twenty-five years later, Elayne’s mother, Betty, was looking in some files and found the short story. Betty had an idea for a book, but what would Elayne think? “Go for it, Mom,” she said. That was when Betty expanded the story and published it. |
The Story of Glops series strikes the perfect balance between reality and fantasy in the genre of children’s literature. The writing style and photos are appropriate for kids and their adults giving them opportunities to imagine how life was in Biblical times. There is depth to these stories, but the author presents them in a way that captures the imagination of anyone of any age who reads them.
Chief messages throughout the series are that our Father God wants us to know and love Him, He always keeps His promises, He always answers our prayers, and His plans are infinitely better than our own. |

Many of God’s people in the kingdom rebelled when their king, who was King David’s grandson, treated them too harshly. The kingdom divided: north became “Israel,” and south became “Judah.” God’s prophets warned the people to worship the LORD, keep His Laws, and help others in need. Otherwise, foreign invaders would capture and exile them from both kingdoms and destroy Jerusalem. The prophecies came true. Several prophets spoke of restoration, hope, and the coming Messiah, or Savior. Glops wondered how God would restore and save the exiled people and the Holy Land.
Book 7:
|
The hearts of the first three kings of Israel affected the lives of God’s people and the nation. The first king, Saul, had no love for God. The nation was divided, and the people fought each other. The second king, David, loved God with all his heart. Glops watched him lead the people into a united Israel. From David’s family line, God promised to bring the Savior of the world. The third king, Solomon, was very wise but his loyalty to God was half-hearted. The united Israel began to fall apart.
What happened in the lives of these men? What did the eavesdropping glops see and hear?

Book 6:

The Israelites were preparing to enter Canaan and take it for their own. After the great leader Moses died, the warrior Joshua led the Israelites into “the land of milk and honey” that the LORD promised to their ancestors. The people were to have faith in God and obey Him or they would not reap the bounty of their fertile land. Disobedience to God led to battles, wars, and slavery.
The LORD provided judges and prophets, again and again, to help His people. The glops knew the unlikely, imperfect heroes including Ehud, Deborah, Gideon, Jephthah, Samson, Eli, and Samuel.
