PAST TENSE:
Betty and her older brother lived with their parents on a cotton farm about half-way between Amherst and Sudan, about fifty miles northwest of Lubbock, and close to the center of the Texas Panhandle (the part of Texas that sticks up). Living on the farm had its blessings, such as space, land, sky, and seeing stars at night. The negative points were distance from grocery stores, school, church, and friends. Betty's mother saw to it that her daughter had piano lessons, which meant driving her to the piano studio every week for eight years until Betty had her driver's license. Betty loved playing piano and singing. She was never lonely with music as her best friend. From the time she was eight years old, she was singing specials in church. When she was about twelve, she began playing piano in church, too. Betty also loved to read. Once, she kept a record of the books she read in June, July, and August. The list included twenty-seven novels. After high-school graduation, Betty went to university to continue her studies in music. A year later, Betty was married. Another year later, she had a son. She dropped out of school. Seven years later, she had a daughter. Betty returned to university to continue her music education. After graduation, Betty moved to Borger, TX, where she taught general music, choir, guitar, and recorders for twenty-three years. |

Melody Street: Story and Illustrations
I remember learning this when you were my music teacher. I just had to buy this book. I really enjoy your Melody Street. It gives me hope that I can pass the Kodaly levels. Do you think that practicing the songs using your Melody Street part three will help me? I am using your parts one and two for my third graders. Guitars & Folk Songs: An Anthology
Your one chord pdfs with color drawings and standard notation and chord in corner are awesomely helpful. WOW! Thank you so very much. This is the best information of all. I am so glad I found you. |
The Story of Glops series
... Biblical history in a work that is both accurate and accessible. Betty M Reeves has produced such a work in her latest book. The reading level is good for interested adults to read to older children and for teens to read for themselves ... joyful observers called glops give a soothing and happy response to the narrative. I hope that parents and grandparents will consider putting this work on their reading list. Betty Reeves’ passion for the scriptures is reflected in every chapter she writes. The time and research she put into them is clear. Throughout the books, she weaves in lesser-known facts about the history behind these often-overlooked biblical stories. At the same time, her fictional glops help make stories that may be hard to read more lighthearted and approachable. True to the Scriptures ... children and adults of all ages will enjoy ... Children will love the stories and will also be enlightened and entertained by color photographs scattered throughout the book. What a fantastic story to teach the children about the Bible! In fact, I think it may teach the parents stories from the Bible also. |
